MBOMBELA: The Executive Chairperson of The Buscor Company, Dr Norah Fakude has raised dissatisfaction with the manner in which the small bus operators and Mpumalanga business forum has handled their way of voicing complaints against the bus company.
This follows an unlawful disruption of services earlier this week whereby bus passengers were left stranded since all roads were blocked and Buscor buses were unable to operate. It is alleged that the taxi industry was making demands of a 30% share from the bus company, reduced operational times, etc.
Fakude said conducting the disruption of services was not a solution to any of the issues that the small bus operators have against the bus company. She regarded it as an unacceptable, unlawful behavior that should not be repeated in the future.
“Buscor is a Private Company that is contracted by the Government to operate in the routes regulated by our operating licenses and permits. Therefore, whoever that has a complaint against us has no jurisdiction to interrupt our operation. Complaints should be directed to our employer, which in this case it is the Government. It is fundamental that we should set the record straight that the only meeting that we will honour to discuss issues like the ones that were addressed on Monday is only when we are called by the Government not any other private company or associations,” said Fakude.
Fakude has since extended a sincere apology to all commuters that were affected by the disruption of services, adding that Buscor will always prioritize its customers regardless of the obstacles encountered. She further indicated that two buses were reportedly damaged during the strike.
